Pirra for Italo Calvino is the city of light and fire, for us it turns into a lamp from shaped table, floor and suspension of an irregular ellipsoid. It is inspired by and takes its cue from natural forms, interprets cellular networks, coral structures and ceramic foams. The lighting body is developed through generative design by defining geometry of the object randomly but always checked. Dull, Pirra, looks like a body generated by infinite intertwining, when when turned on, the rays of light cut the loops and the stems, making the volume evanescent and almost impalpable.
