SAFER AT HOME is a series of macro images that Taylor Slingerland created in order to tell the story of a life slowed down amid a pandemic. With a narrow depth of field, Taylor crafts dreamy textural landscapes as he utilizes estranged everyday items from around his apartment, and places them under the microscope for us to scrutinize collectively. This closeness not only demands us to take a second glance into the mundane, but also allows our minds to gently drift away into a world of dusty whimsy, devoid of problems and chaos.
Bio Taylor James Slingerland is an artist living and working in Los Angeles, California. The reality of the world we live in sometimes frightens him, so he’s driven to craft and explore different worlds via various artistic outlets. Ever since his father taught him how to use the dusty SLR cameras in their attic, Taylor has been primarily focused on telling stories through the still image. Beyond photography and painting, Taylor also enjoys designing sets for music videos, television and film. He enjoys utilizing his detail oriented brain to support the craft of storytelling.
