Lebanon has been in conflict and war for the past thirty years: reportage of such violence reiterates day-to-day skirmishes, rather than the nature of the everyday. My work focuses on civilian women, and the scars that decades of hostilities left on them. Traumatized victims of relentless hostilities, these women have had to contend with the realities of war for over three decades. Like gangrene, violence has invaded their most intimate spaces and haunted each and every aspect of their lives. They forever carry within them the relentless echoes of gunfire. Asking these women to wear the military outfit exacerbated the impact that the fighting had on them, and it is with much hesitation that they accepted to wear these uniforms. The upheavals that shake the country will continue to have profound repercussions on these womens lives, linking their fate to that of their land.
