render realism (oil on canvas 2.40 x 1.20m)

I explore, through painting, the threshold between digital representation of space and physical space and their interlocking stages of “realisation”. Realisations of space are partial and incomplete. My work looks for possibilities to bridge the gap between the virtual and the realised. How can we realise the virtual and virtualise the real, or in other words how can we give the creative space a permanence and the permanent space a continued creativity? Paintings at all times were able to capture spaces, atmospheres and cultures through the translation of the artist. They are able to transport these beyond the actual time of their creation. Paintings become a space in their own right.
