    Starting with selfies that are publicly posted to Instagram and tagged #selfiegay, I retake photographs using multiple exposure, intentional camera motion, and layering to create new portraits that are unpredictable and startling. I explore the intersection of photography and contemporary art creating painterly likenesses of personality, mood, and motion. I consider how gay men want to be seen by the world as they put themselves on public display, as well as the ideas of masculinity, standards of beauty, and the restless, searching gay male gaze.
