    Since 2014 I have been shooting portraits of Children in Conflict, mostly in Iraqi Kurdistan, after and during the war against IS. It is my opinion as a photographer that in conflict coverage most focus goes to adults waging war, while hardly anyone focusses on the biggest future victims, being children. I tried to make that focus in my reporting. Children show brightness in their eyes and smiles, even in the most dire situations. They play with what they have and show what they can, raw and uncovered.

    Bio
    I have been working as a freelance frontline/conflict photographer and investigative journalist in Iraqi Kurdistan since 2014. I am Belgian with Kurdish roots. I focus on the more vulnerable and try to give people a voice who are not heard, through my work as a photographer in the region.
