    The Art of Khayamiya

    Khayamiya, a craft that was born in Cairo and to this day still exists, is now hanging by a thread. It was the craft of tent-making and pavilions and now serve as decorative pieces. However, the craftsmen continue making their beautiful pieces and have hope that the art of Khayamiya will rise again. This projects aims to explore Khayamiya and shed light on it with a new perspective. The outcome pushes the viewer to see through the craft and find beauty in all its aspects, and see it from the eyes of the artisan who sews the needle with meticulous detailing and channeled years of practice.
