This series discusses feminine desire through the visual allegory of origami. Femininity takes shape according to social and cultural patterns. One folds a blank sheet of paper into a sometimes elegant, sometimes fanciful form. In these works, origami functions as an active metaphor for the way the subject has been depicted, what has been inferred, and the outcome of objectification. At the same time, the origami creatures elucidate the subject’s own sexual and/or sublimate desires. I am interested in contradictions in feminine desire. For example, the repulsion of and longing for objectification. I paint in oil colors and ink.
