    TERRA FIRMA - The plane made another gentle sweep on its path westward. Here the earth could no longer be anonymous. Stretching more than 3,000 miles from central New Mexico to Northwest Alaska the Rocky Mountains are made up of five sections and we were just greeting the front-range of the Southern Rockies. Longs Peak sat silently far off to the right as Rocky Mountain National Park quietly cradled the headwaters of the Colorado River. This part of the journey was where it became interesting.
