pirra_generative lamp
Pirra for Italo Calvino is the city of light and
fire, for us it turns into a lamp from
shaped table, floor and suspension
of an irregular ellipsoid.
It is inspired by and takes its cue from
natural forms, interprets cellular networks,
coral structures and ceramic foams.
The lighting body is developed through
generative design by defining geometry
of the object randomly but always
checked. Dull, Pirra, looks like
a body generated by infinite intertwining, when
when turned on, the rays of light cut the loops and the
stems, making the volume evanescent and almost
impalpable.
Bio deepdesign is and Italian (Milan based) design company with over 25 years of experience in product design founded by Matteo Bazzzicalupo and Raffaella Mangiarotti in 1995.
We collaborate with international companies such as Barilla, Coca Cola, D&G, DaimlerChrysler, Ferrero, JVC, Kimberly-Clark, Nec, Panasonic, Smeg, Unilever, Whirlpool, … designing innovative industrial products, strategies and new scenarios, but also showrooms, packaging, etc.
We are the designers behind the incredible success of SMEG SDA.
Our goal is to create new design icons, both long-lasting products.
